The Kiln

The Kiln is an adaptable, accessible workspace and information hub providing facilities for community activities and events.

Promoting wellbeing through shared interests and hands-on craft activities in a safe, friendly workshop

BH-Shed is an existing, successful organization that for the past 4 years has been helping men and women share interests and skills, and be creative through craft activities. A well equipped workshop enables them to do their own projects, group projects and worthwhile community projects.

Our main workshop is located at Burnside, Victoria Road, Burgess Hill and is open from 0930 to 1500 hours every Tuesday and Wednesday. Members can undertake a wide range of craft projects including woodwork and metal work.

It is our intention to extend open times for our existing workshop to 5 days per week to allow for increased demand and allow members to work on community projects. We will also create another craft workshop in The Kiln to provide facilities and resources for a wider range of crafts and allow evenings and weekend sessions depending on demand.

For more details go to the BH-Shed website.

KILN premises open in Burgess Hill Town centre
The KILN premises are open for refurbishment and limited activity.

The Kiln has already hosted a number of events for local groups including the Repair Cafe and the Mid Sussex Brass Band. Other events are planned to commence in November.

The Kiln shop is open every Thursday between 0930 and 1530hr and sells products made by members of Burgess Hill Shed.

Currently the priority is in recommissioning services and adapting the premises. This will provide a flexible space for events, meetings and activities, a workshop with facilities for many types of craft, a makerspace for learning technologies and reskilling.

Anyone interested in joining, volunteering or needing a place for events and activities can contact us through the contact page. Alternatively, you can meet members every Thursday between 0930 and 1530hr to find out more about the project and how to get involved.
